Kia’s makeover of its minivan is a dramatic one. Dubbed the Carnival, Kia’s remodeled minivan replaces the aging Sedona and adds so many elements that the minivan is now unrecognizable from its previous self. In fact, new features include:

Newly Added

  • Kia’s minivan arrives with a new name and new logo.
  • The minivan now boasts of a bold and boxy SUV-like design.
  • Features more dynamic performance with a more powerful 3.5-liter V6, which delivers best-in-class 290 horsepower with 3,500 pounds of towing capability.
  • A roomier interior with best-in-class passenger room and best-in-class cargo room. The cabin now features multi-seating configurations, including sliding second-row seating and VIP lounge seating options.

So, just what does the new 2022 Kia Carnival multi-purpose vehicle look like?


The Carnival boasts of a bold look and boxy appearance. The strong and rugged body style features Kia’s modernized tiger-nosed grille, a dramatic hood line that enhance the minivan’s aggressive character, brawny wheel arches, large two-tone mirrors and black and chrome rocker panel moldings, sleek combination taillamps, along with 17-inch and 19-inch wheels.


The Carnival’s premium, flexible, and innovative cabin houses sleek design elements with quality features. The center fascia contains high-glass surfaces, while a chrome garnish runs the length of the dash, and integrated slim metal air vents add a modern touch. The Carnival can seat up to eight people and offers best-in-class 168.2 cubic feet of passenger space. The Carnival also features best-in-class 145.1 cubic feet of cargo room behind the first row in the LX, EX, and SX trims.

Innovated features include a standard 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto, wireless charging, a 3-inch navigation display, a 3-inch digital instrument display, and up to nine USB ports for all three rows, among others.


The 2022 Kia Carnival utilizes a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 290 horsepower, which is paired with a standard eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is the only offering.

Safety Features

Safety features found within the Carnival include forward collision-avoidance assist, blind-spot avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, parking distance warning-reverse, lane keeping assist system, high beam assist, driver attention warning, among many others.
